Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Unalaska
This morning when we went down to breakfast it was evident that the Easter Bunny had come to the Crystal Serenity. All that chocolate and the table was almost empty by the time breakfast was over!
Today we docked in Dutch Harbor Alaska on the Island of Unalaska. Population around 4000 and everyone knows everyone. The weather was cold and it started to hail and then snow for awhile. We went into "Town" there was not much there but the people were so friendly. I went and sat in the Hotel lobby as it was really icy walking to the Safeway. Bill needed to get more deodorant. While I was sitting there a native Eskimo came in and I was so excited because she was dressed like a picture would be she said Hello and Happy Easter and I was so excited I didn't even ask to take her photo. Oh Well, maybe next time.
It was a cute place with a few stores and not much more but like I said the people were so friendly and happy to share their town with us. This is definetely the last "Wilderness" They even had an Easter Egg hunt for us.
We came back to the ship had lunch and the bunnies at been replenished.
We had a great Easter Dinner but I didn't want dessert. The next thing I know Chetan our waiter comes back to the table while Bill was eating his dessert he had the Bugs Bunny (Carrot Cake) and put two of the big chocolate bunnies on a plate for me. I said no Augusto had given us big ones this morning. His reply "You still have 11 days and you don't like those new dried apples" So now we have all this chocolate and I am happy!!!!!
There was a special show and it was really good and then late in the Avenue Saloon they had an old fashioned sing-a-long with the bango player and the ukele player. It was so much fun. Didn't get to bed until late again.
Tried for a couple of hours to upload pictures yesterday and it would not work. Internet around Alaska has been terrible. No phone service in Dutch Harbor either. I wouldn't last there 1/2 hour!!!!! We are on to Kodiak!!!!
